The Bermuda Tourism board had gotten their hands slapped last month for using a photo of a Hawaii beach. Oops.
I recall an older Peter Hughes liveaboard ad that not only obviously had "extra" fish Photoshopped into the UW scene, and they had used some Angelfish that were in their night colors in their daytime scence. Most people would say that this is being nitpicky, but if you're diving to enjoy the natural environment, you can debate this one.
Similarly, the Little Cayman Beach Resort (LCBR) did a split frame above/below water image in one of their ads, and the underwater scene was of a coral reef scene which unfortunately doesn't exist at that location. This one got some attention because people correctly claimed that it was deceptive advertising because it inferred that there was good shore diving right off the resort.
Finally, the Ocean Corporation often advertises their commercial diver training courses in the recreational diving magazines. While they often have very professional looking advertisements, they've also put out some not-quite-so profesional, yet eye catching sexist "T&A" ads that they also run, such as on page 90 of the July '99 issue of Rodales . In the spirt of Truth in Advertising, the latter is simply ripe for a little bit of our own creative works of parody!
