I have been hearing about an underwater hotel somewhere in the Keys. Does anyone have any info on this hotel?

From what I understand you dive to your room????? Sounds very interesting. I think it might be one of those places to go just to say "I have been there"

Thanks in Advance
Julie

Julie,

It is called Jules Undersea Lodge and I think it is in Key Largo or just south. It was an old lab habitat that has ben converted. I think the depth is about 25 feet? It is in a lagoon setting. I am sure someone else can jive you some more details.

From what I've read on their website it unfortunately is not like saturation diving. :(
It would be great if someone offered that!

I read that too, but then they said the only requirements were to not fly or dive for 24 hours. At 21 feet deep I don't think it would truely qualify as saturation diving...

Ok, the first clue to the level of this experience is that they say its ok if you have never dived.

We used to use Jule's lagoon as a training site in bad weather. The one thing you need to know to avoid being disappointed is that this thing is NOT in the ocean. Yea, it's in Key Largo but it's in a mangrove lagoon. The water is green on the best day, very little life. It's a novelty yes but if your going to Key Largo to dive, it may not be what you're expecting.

low viz is an understatement...it is downright murky for the Keys. We have had some fun on night training dives peeking in the windows:jester:
