We are using Scorpio Divers. Flying into Cancun on July 11, snorkeling with the whale sharks on the 12th, then heading over to Cozumel. This way we don't have that early morning ferry trip over to the mainland.

Icculus-My DH and I are going on July 10 , meeting up with Scorpio Duvets in Playa del Carmen. Taking the first ferry out and meet their van there for transport (via a second ferry/boat ride) to Isla Mujeres. It will be a Loooong one day trip, however , we have the next day off to recover.

BTW Icculus-if you wish , please do join in On the July ScubaBoard List. !!!
SueSue, we are planing on coming back to Playa with Scorpio AND ALL OUR LUGGAGE. From your experience, if you have used them before, will this be a problem. We should have 3 bags a piece, on checked size, carrry on size and personal size. I am asking you because of the language difference and what not the answer we got from Scorpio still leaves us in the air a ittle. Thanks.

We had lots of whale sharks yesterday on one of our weekly trips from Cozumel. :D

Great pics, but the visibility really surprises me. I did the Whale Shark excursion in July, 2011, and the water was so filled with small critters that visibility was only about 20-25 feet - better than lake diving in Texas, but a lot cloudier than Cozumel. It was hard to see a whole Whale Shark at one time, and hard to see them clearly underwater until they were within 10 feet or so.

This was a video I made with a crappy camera in 2012, gives a pretty good idea of what it's like when you hit it right, there were about 100 whale sharks in the area. Notice - (no swimming or chasing required when there are good numbers, they will come to you when there are a lot of them, just wait for them...)

I don't know. Also, please see my PM to you. :). Double S

We dived with the whale sharks last week. There were about 150 whale sharks, summersaulting Manta Rays, and squadrons of Spotted Eagle Rays!
