What's OC stand for?
Open Circuit, using a normal 2nd stage exhaling into the water.

Big Hugs~
I shall remind you of that when I visit the the island. :D

I think it comes from the idea that if you were to compare say a remote dive ....
There is much truth to it, I just wanted to show it's not an absolute.

Below one of my faves, from Diver Dave Sutton's No Bubble Diving website.

It's from the User's page and nicely shows the efficiency of CC versus OC.
And Dave's Minimum RB is of course even smaller than the Sport Kiss. :D

Caveseeker - excellent post on "what is a rebreather" I've printed it out and am going to keep it as a reference...I really want to dive an RB one day, but to be frank they ARE intimidating - okay they scare me.

All in all, that's probably a good thing, a little fear certainly makes you double and triple check everything.

Now if I can just sell my car and go by a Cygnus Mk5....

As far as the pictures of doubles vs. rebreather point taken - I like the cup of coffee added. But didja notice he's picking up the doubles by the manifold? As a doubles diver, always taught that was a "no no"....

...when I see you, I will give you a huge hug.
Don't tempt me, that just the sort of thing that always gets me in trouble. :bluthinki
Worse than diving with a faulty cell, I tell ya. :D

Daylonious:
But didja notice he's picking up the doubles by the manifold?
They aren't manifolded. One oxygen, one diluent. Hours of diving.

Stefan:

I think he meant the OMS 100s, not the rebreather cylinders.

It's a great pic to show the difference in gas efficiency. I've downloaded it for a talk I'm giving at a Diving Medicine course in Bonaire in February -- "Introduction to Rebreathers"

Ooops, I missundertsood. :11doh:
But on the OMS that's not a manifold either, it the handle to throw them away.

Its remarkable that Caveseeker7 could provide such well-written summaries of rebreather functions without actually owning one. I was thinking you could put your talents to work as a manufacturer's rep and then you would have one to take to St. Croix to demo to lovely mermaid and gorgeous Dorothy!

Stefan, defend yourself!

Caveseeker7 definitely "owns" a rebreather! He is a VERY experienced rebreather diver. As you can see on his avatar, he dives the Prism. He was a great help to me when I was deciding to go with the Sport Kiss!
