Yeah, and the fee is what, currently? Last I heard was $400.

I have no idea. Maybe the OP should contact LV and ask, as was suggested in post #2

That's quite the change from earlier costs to replace the X1's potted battery outside of warranty, isn't it? What changed?

Well that's welcome news. Does this apply to all serial numbers? Does it apply to all owners?

The huge loss of customers to another computer manufacturer that actually provides a warranty :idk:

Kind of. Especially if you have the ORIGINAL purchase receipt !

<<If you purchase a Liquivision dive computer second hand, please obtain a copy of the original owner’s purchase receipt for warranty purposes. If you are unable to obtain the receipt, we will consider the warranty period to begin the day the product was purchased directly from us.>>

Only thing that might change is the warranty start date

But what if a Dive Shop purchases an X-1. and it sits on their shelf for 6 months. Diver A then buys it from the shop. Six months later he sells it to Diver B. Next day the computer fails to work. Diver B is SOL as computer is out of warranty.

Only if Diver A has lost his receipt. If he has the receipt, the warranty is valid. Typical for almost everything in any industry.
