Hey all...

Name's Bec...

Living in Sydney, Australia..

Just found this site while looking for advice on diving with a cold.. Have a dive with sharks on the weekend, that I have been looking forward to for so long, the last trip was cancelled due to the weather, so this is my last chance for a while, to do the dive, and, as per usual, my nose is runny, my head is stuffy, and I really don't know if I should dive or not... Having no probs with my ears, so don't know what to do..

So.. found this site, liked it, and joined....

Welcome to the board and my vote is that you should not dive. Sorry about the cold but you should play it safe. Just my two cents.

welcome to SB

Welcome to the Scuba board, I agree although its tempting, I have seen to many bloody noses and problems surfacing even with slow release tablets... I also live and Dive regulary in Sydney and i guarantee the Sharks will be there next week......
Good Luck ;-))

Howdy from The Lone Star State!

Lots of good opinions here, but do be careful diving with a cold. I do it, but I never suggest it. :D And I did sit out 5 days on a live aboard once with the flu.

Glad you're here - PM me if I can help you find your way around...

Hi Bec -

I do not recommend that you dive with a cold.
I had a cold the day of my final certification dive ... I tried ...
OUCH ! The pain in the ears and sinuses was horrible ...
I had to surface and call it a day. I finally finished the
last dive 3 months later! Hahaha

I would say don't do it. The sharks will always be there and I am sure
if you talk to the company organizing it they would understand and give
you a credit to dive at another, healthier time.

Hey guys...

I got worse during the night, so called it off. They were able to find people to replace us so I get the credit or the money.. They know me well at the dive shop so no problems there...

Thanks for the advice..
