Does Leisure Pro ever sell fake stuff?

Leisure Pro often carries older model stuff. I believe Dive-Rite has recently changed the design on its integrated weight pouches.

Go back to your quote from Dive Rite...even they aren't saying its a fake, they're saying LP is "not authorized" and sells "grey market" equipment. Grey Market doesn't mean fake, it means purchased outside the normal supply chain. Hyphen or no hyphen!

Well, like this matters at all, but the first is what the item for sell looked like... I was told it was Dive Rite and just an older model.

Besides looking different, the difference was Leisure Pro said it was a "Dive-Rite"...notice the hyphen...ooooo so different. Oh and Leisure Pro put the picture upside down....lol

It looks to me like both pouches have a flap that flips up and that both are pictured right side up.

IF LP were selling fake goods--being as large as they are--they would be a nice target for some young prosecutor to be the next Erin Brockovich and take them down if they are falsely advertising and selling counter fit goods. We do have laws against false advertising and selling goods under false pretenses. If they were committing fraud they would get shut down. Taking down the largest scuba retailer in the world—which some of you seem to think is the biggest fraud in the world would be some nice strips for some prosecutor to add to the resume.

If LP were doing what they are accused of doing, they would be shut down in a New York minute.

If you really think they are selling fake stuff you should be willing to write a detailed account of your accusations and then contact the Attorney General of New York. You should also be prepared to defend yourself against a libel suit for falsely accusing them. But hey you know what they are doing so you should be golden!

It is simple. LP moves move dive gear than any one on the planet and the manufactures don’t want to miss out on all that money that is going through LP.

And there just aren’t that many dive shops going out of business to supply them with the volume that ships in and out of there. They buy direct from the manufacturer whether you realize it or not.

By the way, my dive buddy and I just got another nice order in the mail this week from LP. Very nice guy took our order over the phone. Was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. Had in stock exactly what we needed. Shipped out on time. All gear arrived in new condition and was exactly what we ordered. And oh yeah—the price was great too. I guess with treatment like that –you know great service, great price, great products, I would think twice about ordering from them again and would be ready to send them more money in a New York minute when I have another gear need.

You know, all of my life, I have always been the odd one out in every crowd. My kids and my employees say it is because I am stubbord and too set in my ways. In this discussion of the scuba industry, I am still the odd one out............

Every other scuba store owner in the NATION wants the manufacturers to do something to "stop the flow of merchandise to LP". Not me. I just want them to open the same flow up to me.

Here's the bottom line form my perspective. Yes Leisure Pro does sell some of "last year's models" That doesn't make them fake or make Leisure Pro a bunch of crooks. They advertise and picture exactly what they are selling to you. If you like the specs and the pictures, who cares what model year it is. Do you hold it against a car dealler at the end of the year when they drop the price on last year's models to make room for the new models ???? That's sometimes when you get the best deals. Also, I hate to shock people with this but sometimes last year's model is actually better than this year's !!!

I have seen absolutely no evidence that Leisure Pro has ever sold fake gear. If you ever buy something from Leisure Pro and you don't like what you get, you can always return it no questions asked. Leisure Pro has sold a ton of stuff to a lot of satisfied customers. As I look through all of the posts on the thread, the responses of people who have bought from LP have been very positive. I have bought from LP many times and have always been pleased. You can't beat good prices, fast shipping and good service !!!

I really wish my LDS would work with me more. I can't get them to budge below about 10% off of full list. This just isn't competitive. I'm afraid with their attitudes (whicih is take it or leave it), the only way I can support them is through travel, gear maintanence, classes and air fills. Looks like all of my new gear needs will be handled through the internet.

All you need is a bunch of cash and you too can make deals with the manufacturers and distributors and buy out insolvent shops.

The funny part is that LP gets good prices because nobody else has the money to do the same thing on any kind of scale. If there were competition for the resources they're snapping up, prices would rise.

Its not an issue of money. It is the right to sell the stuff without the advertising restrictions. Its the "franchise" that makes them unique. And the stuff CERTAINLY isn't coming from insolvent shops.
