It's not an easy tightrope to walk, but at the end of the day you still need to log off of here with your integrity intact ... and I think most mods try to do that.

Everyone has a bias. Anyone who tells you differently is a politician! If a moderator ever abuses their position, please report this to abuse@ScubaBoard.com. I read and respond to these e-mails which are infrequent. Please be specific and use links to help me see what you see!

There was no abuse, just silliness. I reported a post and was shown how it was not appreciated. I won't be making that mistake again. There was a direct link to topics discussed here, and obviously someone wanted to personally show their stance to me even though other Mod/s acted on the report/post per se. I find it childish. I assumed reporting wasn't supposed to end members on black list unless we abuse the function - not because of eg political views at least (not that they were even expressed in my reporting - but narrow-mindedly one could jump to conclusions I guess).

I like the thanks option. Sometimes I agree with a post or find it very helpful.

I do wish we could modify the thanks option. I wish I could find all posts that say member NWGrateful had been thanked for as well as find the posts in which NWgrateful has thanked people. I find most (not all least his head become to big for his mask and prevent him from ever diving again) of his post really informative and really respect what he says. Sometimes a guy like him, Uncle Pug, TSandM, lamont or other will toss a post that has a lot of meat in it and I think it is great that people flag those. I think it is also worth being able to search what posts such people think and read what they find note worthy.

From being on the board a while you get a sense of what one of the above people might thank verses someone like me, Jep, pikki, Redrover and so forth. If you really get along well with someone one the board or admire them it might be helpful to search out both things from thier profile.
