DF, we certainly get the point

Do you really now? Look at the 3 staff members that responded to the thread - not one of them had anything to say about the problem at hand. One posted about thread count, one posted about how not everyone is trying to boost their counts, and the other was not even a coherent post - especially from a staff member who should be a role model for other users.

I don't understand why the solution for this is "ignore the thread" and just check in regularly. Why should we have to do this? I guarantee you itll reduce the welcoming of new members as people will forget or wont see the posts come up like they do in the new posts feature. There are better solutions out there then that.

The 3 staff members haven't addressed the "problem" because there is none. This "problem" has been discussed in the past, and has been found to be a non-problem. We do not want to discourage people from welcoming new users, even if they are copied and pasted. What is the benefit to "bolstering a user's post count"?? There isn't really one. So why would people just do that? There is no reward (except the reward of helping a fellow SB'er) for posting.

Under what heading in User CP, is the option for ignoring certain forums? I've been looking and can't find it.

Welcome to :sblogo: Why don't you fill out your profile and tell us something about yourself.

You can control which forums to ignore by selecting the edit options link in your user CP.

edit- I'm a little slow today.

So they should just post about something random or post things that don't even make sense? Once again, it has NOTHING to do with boosting post count - i could care less if thats what makes them tick. That is not the problem at hand, once again.

I am not sure why you doubt the sincerity or the veracity of my statement?

You have complained about a situation and have as of yet given us any possible solution. One was proffered by DamselFish, but alas it is not possible. So, you want us to listen, but to what? You don't like the way some people post, and you even admit that they are posting within the ToS. Again, I am at a sincere and complete loss as to what you think we should do here? Feedback is great, but it must be accompanied with specific suggestions as to how to improve this for it to be considered constructive.

Now, as for the "grow up" comments from the two of you: heed your own advice. I trust you both can continue this discussion without further accosting each other??? I would hate to have this thread locked down because of the fighting. And yes, it surely takes two to have a cat fight.

If you are using the Classic skin the ignore option is missing - could be why you can't find it.
