Lake Pleasant conditions for Saturday (5/10) were pretty good. I dove with Bill (PhxSki) at Beismeyer Point. Water temp at the surface was 69º with probably 15-20 foot vis at 30' deep. The alge looks like it's getting ready to bloom though because vis varied below 40' deep from about 15' to zero. Temperature was 58º at 70' and 54º at 90'. We saw a lot of small fry hiding out in the camp fire rings and rocky areas. We ran into some pretty good sized old timer fish too.

We met Steve and John Nichols. Had a good conversation with them. Hope to dive with them sometime.

Steve.

Agree...the diving was great at the lake Sat...vis was good down to 94 off the 10 Lane boat ramp...saw the fry and some very large bass and carp... found an old picnic canopy at 80 ft...and a couple anchors.... all in all both dives were very good... we did hit some spots at 90-94ft that was 52 deg....but didn't stay at that depth long...

Hey everyone,

I'm excited to be joining you all very soon. My girlfriend and 2 friends of mine are doing our checkout dives this coming weekend at the lake (hopefully), and are anxious to get out very often after that! We're all geared up and can't wait to start diving.

Geoff

Welcome Geoff!!!

..... Glad to have you here....we will be looking forward to diving with you all....

Hi all and thanks for the update! Conditions at the 10-lane boat ramp sound pretty good. A couple of friends and I are thinking about diving at Pleasant this coming weekend. Since we have never been to the boat ramp area, I am hoping to be able to get some advice, especially with regard to boat traffic and how to avoid it.

First thing is to get there EARLY. The place fills up pretty fast with RVs. The other reason to go out early is so you can get in 2 or 3 dives before the alcohol kicks in and some beer swilling boat driver decides your dive buoy bares investigation or is a navigation target.:shakehead: The best way to avoid the boaters is to treat diving at the lake like diving in a overhead environment. Try to surface near your buoy if at all. I recommend following the bottom contour all the way to shore.

The bottom is rocky around there so it seems to remain pretty clear. As Reefman said, you can find some depth. Enterance and exit is pretty easy, even at the spillway area.

Oddly enough, close to the boat ramp is a good place to dive because the boats spend most of their time AWAY from it.

Ditto's ^^^^^^

Hi guys,

Thanks for your advice on diving in the 10-lane boat ramp area. Could you help me out with more details on where exactly to dive there to get some depth? Perhaps someone has posted a description or a sketch?

Either side of the ramp you can get some depth.... This last weekend we dove on the east side of the ramp...the right side.... there is a gated ramp off to the right...we carried our gear do the bottom of that road where the gate is and dove off the left side .... you will drop down and follow the bottom as it continues down several drop offs...to a sandy bottom...follow the bottom to your left and you just keep going down.... you will be getting closer to the shore line in between the ramp and the gated road that you came down.... We hit 94 ft there...

If you need to pm me with your phone number and I will call you and we can chat....

Yes... I could but I have company this weekend...so have to go later on!!!!
