The message I got was only 10 people were going to be allowed to demo the application. I received an E-Mail with a link and password from Mares.

Where do we find the beta download?

Well that explains why I couldn't find it anywhere on the site. Phil or Zak - can I pretty please be a tester? Julie

Hi Julie,

To be perfectly honest, it is the support site admin who sent out the beta versions. Others even had theirs before we did.

If you have an open service ticket you can ask them. I have been told the final version with all the features should be ready next week.

Regards,

Phil

Thanks for the info Phil - I never opened a ticket because I knew there were so many others out there already and I've been following the progress here. I guess I'll work on my patience skills - my husband tells me all the time that I need practice ;-)

Well, I have to say that I too am anxiously awaiting the full version now, as the beta SUCKS! No one is asking for input and issues aren't being addressed from what I can see! One big one which I feel is a huge safety issue is not being pursued. I have been diving with 2 computers since I got my Nemo Air due to the fact that I can't upload my data from the Ne mo Air to my PC/Logbook. There are some HUGE differences in the data between some of the dives!! My Uwatec computer I think collects data more often where the Nemo is only showing data about every 15 seconds?.....YIKES! And my last dive, my Mares computer is showing on the upload that I never returned to the surface.... I'm still at 21 feet! Yikes! I took screenshots of the data and sent it to Mares and they said that they are analyzing it.

Here are a few items I am concerned with which may be related to only the Beta Version (I hope), or I can't figure out:
1. You must have your PC's fonts set to small not large..... This really Sucks!
2. No import or export feature.
3. No way to edit your dive #'s (No life existed before you got a Nemo Air?)
4. Even after changing to Imperial measures (Non-Metric) the tank volumes etc are still in liters and liter/bar. So your consumption shows as lt/min. I live in the US, so I need cu/ft to have a clue!
5. Some of the selections in pull downs may not fit what you want to select so instead of giving you an option to add something they just give you an other button. Example: Wetsuit selection are Wet Suit, Semi Dry Suit, Dry Suit, Other. Why not give me a X mm selection. I like to keep track of how thick my suit was 5mm, 3mm, .5mm etc. Let me add some options!
6. The missing data from the end of the dives may just be that the program is cutting off the end of the dive. Apparently the software is not auto sizing the window correctly to display all the dive. I noticed a few dives that I "Never returned from".
7. They give you a nice display of your computer which you can't read unless you change to small fonts which I mentioned above. But you also can't click anything on it to change the info displayed. I'd like to be able to click the computer and change to see different info, like time and other info.

The Jury is still out on the software until the new version is released but it has a LOOOOOOOOOOONG way to go in my book!

You were lucky that you even got the computer to download and the support crew to respond to you. I have not been able to get the "red light" or any activity from the dive computer to the PC and my report of my experiences, complete with screen captures of the error messages, is not even acknowledged by support. I have installed the software on a Windows XP machine and a Windows Vista machine and tried to download 10 to 20 times each and the best I can get is "Waiting for Drak Interface."

Here is the report I sent Mares support (without the screen captures):

"After I installed the Drak software the installation program installed the USC Bridge. It reported that the Bridge was sucessfully installed. I followed the directions in the Drak manual for starting the connecting the interface and starting the program. The Drak light did not turn red, it stayed green, and I received the error message shown in Figure 1 below.

By reversing the order of running the software and plugging in the Drak interface and plugging in the Drak interface and running the software I can get an animated bar in a box that says, "Waiting for Drak interface" as shown in Figure 2 below.

I have tried the software and Drak on a Windows XP Home machine with 512 Mb of RAM and 30 Gb of free fixed disk space and on a Windows Vista Home Premium machine with 4 Gb of RAM and 500 Gb of free fixed disk space. I get the same error shown in Figure 1 on both machines."

On my Air it does not look like the Drak contacts are making contact with the Air contacts.

I had similar issues at first. The first thing is to go to Windows Control Panel/Add/Remove Programs and remove ALL copies of Mares Drak software and the Uart USB Bridge driver. Then reinstall the software. This helped but was not the total fix for me. I did this twice before it worked. Next thing is to make sure that the DRAK (Little Blue puck) is not installed into your USB cable until after you start the Mares Software. After it is started hit download then it gives you the message about not config'd and hit ok.....Blah, Blah, Blah. Hit OK and when it says searhing for DRAK, then install the Blue DRAK. It should then turn green and you should get a message about Com port. Then Hit OK, and software asks for the DRAK to be inserted into Nemo Air. Select PC Link from the Nemo Air menu and then and only then insert the DRAK into the Nemo Air. THe Drak should turn Red and press OK on software, and the download should start.
Hope this helps it worked for me. Let me know if you continue to have trouble, I have a few other things you can try.

Hi Guys

I have a question for you in regards to your Nemo Air. Eliminating all the problems you have had with the software issues, what do you think of the Nemo Air itself? Not the software problems not the hassles or other issues but the actual dive computer itself when you are diving.

I know Mares is/has brought out the Mares Puck Air which I think is just a little cheaper then the Nemo Air. But only real difference is the mineral glass and doesnt have computer upgradeability I think. So do you think overall your diving with a good computer that is air intergrated or do you think you should have gone with something like the Puck Air?

Thanks.

I like the computer itself although there are a few minor things I'd change.

I like the computer but do not like the compass attached. I have a hard time holding it correctly since it is attached to the hose - it puts is at a weird angle so it gets stuck a lot. I think I would have rather had a plain compass - I think the cost is about the same. Of course, this could be all just me since I am terrible at navigation :)

The computer is easy to read and easy to use. I don't have anything to compare it to since it is all I've ever used but other than the compass and lack of software, I haven't had any problems.
