Left Cancun on a sixpac, got off near Isla Contoy. I booked with a great guy but now I see it can be done for 125$.

Ya I think we have to stay on the island the night before. So thats seems to be out. I just read their FAC page.

opal said she had something up did she not get back to you about that.?

Opal said that the trip could be done as a day trip or hotels could be had for 450 pesos a night.

FirstDive and DiverG,

Whatever ya'll do...have fun. I am sorry I will miss meeting you. But, you will be in Cozumel and loving life. Enjoy! Now I am envious and jealous!! Happy diving.

Mary

I heard back from Papa Hogs.

"From Playa you can take the bus or taxi to Puerto Juarez, (that is where you catch the ferry over to Isla Mujeres) taxi should cost you about 60.00 and take an hour, then the ferry not sure of the schedule but can't be more than 30 minute ferry ride."

Sounds like this rout would require a ferry ride on the Isla Mujeres side too, which would add expense. I'm leaning towards keeping it simple and just going with the $185 that includes everything from Playa. Besides, Mary has me thinking about that Ceviche on the boat! :D

1KWIK69,

Didn't mean to leave you out!! Have a great dive trip whatever you end up doing.

Looking at the Tank Ha web site and Eco tours again and remembering about the briefing we were given at Puerto Juarez, Cancun. Looks like the reason for briefing that it could take up to 3 hours to spot whale sharks...the speedboats are going to go where the whale sharks are...whether that is Holbox, Contoy, Muejueras etc.
Puerto Juarez gives them a central point to operate from to get where they need to be as fast as possible.

The boats let each other know immediately where the whale sharks are congregated and they head there. So, some boat is always spotter out in the ocean for whale sharks. So, most of these OPS can feel comfortable offering 100% guarantee of sightings!

I am leaning towards keeping it simple tambien. I want to check out another company that gets good recommendation. I'll get back with you.
