Mini Season Toll

Sounds like our very own version of the running of the bulls.

I have to say I went out yesterday with my nieces and my brother in law, and I can tell you that it was the last time that I will go out during the mini season. People not only act like idiots. they ignore avery single rule there is out there. I used to agree that all jetskis should be banned from the water because 90% of the drivers were idiots. Well After yesterday I think the same of boaters. (By the way I have boths a Jetski and a Boat) People were Flying by groups of boats that were parked in a circle to catch the lobsters. There were boats with out flags. There were people that were two and three hundre feets away from their boat without a diving flag. We were coming back to port arround 1:30 pm and that is when the FWC police were heading out.
I can tell you I will not do Lobster mini season ever again.

I just had friends rearrange their vacation to Largo because they found out they were going to be down there during mini season.

As I said to a dive shop owner friend today as I was getting my tanks filled (I dove mini-season opening day and did VERY WELL ) people who only dive mini-season are very much like people who only go to church at Christmas and Easter.

Do people who go to church only at Christmas and Easter die from being "out of practice?" Don't think so.

What is the big attraction for these gomers? It's a big cockroach that you can buy at any grocery store. Is it because it's free? Or so they think. Let's see- gas for the boat, oil, gas getting the boat to the marina or launch, equipment, etc. Fighting with other morons and bubba's to risk drowning. Yep sounds like fun to me! And I was on my way on the deco stop death pool thread before they closed it. I called 8 with 2 never seen again.

Hey Ed, I had no Idea that it was gonna be like that. I can tell you that you will not see me in the water in the next mini season. I friend told me that people were fighting in the marinas to put their boats in the water. It is insane in 8 more days you are gonna have almost 8 months to get lobsters so what is the hurry???

Ed I am open this sunday if you want to do a dive. Just let me know. If you can't just let me know when you can and we will put something together. By the way my internet at home is down so if you need to reach me after 5:00pm today call me on my cell: three zero five seven two five one zero seven seven.

I would agree with you on the fun part because everytime that you are blowing bubbles under water is fun. The thing is that if you have to be stressed out because you do not know if you are gonna get run over by a boat then that takes the fun out of it for me.

When we were diving on Wednesday we got lost and wanted to come up to find the boat, but we didn't because we were afraid a boat was gonna run us over. We had enough air to search a bit more and we got lucky and found the boat. It all comes back to regulating the boating industry and making a license mandatory

Jeez. This is why I would never go out there with all those crazies at mini-season. I dunno, maybe the state ought to consider doing away with it for the good of everybody.

Ironically, my father (whom I have not spoken to for quite a long while) called me up last night because he heard about all the fatalities and wanted to know if I was out there diving in all that mess. Heh, go figure.
