Derek Modet...you have your answer. Heed brother heed! How do you even know you have all the gear? Probably the best gear you could carry is between your ears. And as you have stated...that set of gear.(for caves) "you don't have" YET....but set your goal to acquire. Don't learn the hard way....it's just tooooo permanent. NO room for any mistakes to be corrected later.....please understand, think it threw, undoubtedly your own life depends on it.....regards

What exactly do you consider a cave? If it really is an actual cave, you've got some learnin' to do. Now if it's just a swim through in the reef, knock yourself out.

God, you guys really love to feed the trolls in this thread...

I had that feeling when I first read the post, but thought I'd throw my 2 cents in. Apparently, this guy isn't coming back here...

Do you think we were all feeding a "troll"? or maybe just talked someone out of pursuing a very foolish quest. In either case ...what did we loose? What did the OP gain? maybe his life! What the hell! Hope he takes heed though.

oh and i guess i should have mentioned that i have quite a bit of cave experience. no lie. i recently did a triple stage for almost 6,000 feet of penetration (swimming not scootering). i've laid new line in previously unexplored cave, and ive even tried my hand a sidemounting (i didnt like it all that much)

I would have to agree.
training is great and experience is necessary, but it doesnt always come with a card. thank god for free unregulated caves.

anyway the lecture was fun and all, but since noone seems to have a real answer to my question, i think i'm done with this particular thread.
