Every time there is a fatal car crash, I am a bit shellshocked and upset. I don't know these people either, but I know what they are going through as that is how my Dad died 21 years ago.
I think it's safe to assume Glock Diver didn't lose a loved one in a shark attack. Nobody feels good about untimely deaths. But to wonder aloud how to manage anger over the death of someone you didn't know, who died pursuing an activity you don't partake in? Seems a little over the top, IMHO. :idk:

I see your point. Feelings of empathy and vulnerability would be normal for any of us who do ocean sports, but yeah, anger management is a bit over the top. I didn't need anger management over my Dad, and yes, there was a truck driver to be angry at.

"Direct the anger?" Jeezus, the guy was killed by a wild animal. It's a tragedy for sure, but to be angry about it? You didn't even know him.

That is my point. You cannot be angry at the sharks. Unlike when Rob Murphy was run down by a careless boater.

And, why would you state I did not know him?

the folks on spearboard have been saying they've been seeing a tiger hanging around the juno reefs

"But this kite surfer seemed to have done nothing to invite a shark attack. He wasn't asking for it. That makes it all the more rare, and certainly tragic."

Are you sure? According to the news, he had seen the aerials of the schooling sharks. Why would you go surfing, or kite surfing in those conditions?

Just asking-- I feel for his family -- It truly is a tragedy.

I am not trying to belittle the situation, just asking a question.

I don't think anyone actually invites a shark attack.

Haven't various beaches up and down the coast been closed lately due to large schools of sharks?

What's to say this poor guy wasn't doing his kite surfing thing, did some big trick and landed in the middle of a school of sharks and the attack was reactionary?

For all we know this fellow knew their were schools of sharks out there, but the conditions were perfect and in his mind the risks were worth the rewards.

You can't say this guy did nothing. He was in the water where we enter the food chain.

still trying to process all this.

I have surfed there. My daughter surfs there.

RIP, Man. Very sad. And so odd. Where do we direct the anger? (we don't kite yet.)

Huh? If you surf anywhere then you've already been in the water with sharks. It's the chance you take. In fact - if you simply go to the beach anywhere in FL then you've been in the water with sharks. Especially during the migratory season, in rough water, with low visibility. That is a recipe for a case of mistaken identity.
