I always wanted to dive the Yonaguni monuments in southern Japan. If you go in January the hammer heads are starting to school

So, if you got some terrible diagnosis and worked out that you had time for three dive trips before you died, where would you go?

Where would you go?

Interesting thread. I have an incurable cancer, with a 50/50 chance of living 5 years.

There are places I'd love to go, like Bikini Atoll, but they're cost prohibitive. I'm planning to do as much diving as I can afford in as many places in the Carribean as possible. So far we've managed Cancun, Playa del Carmen (including a couple Cenote dives) and Curacao. We're planning to go back to Mexico in May, but not sure where, yet. The Carribean makes the most financial sense, and there are certainly more sites there than I could possibly dive.

Cocos including a ride on Deep See
Yes, good one. A National Geographic team was in Cocos at the same time I was. Guess who got priority in use of the Deep See? I canceled my subscription in retaliation. But since I've already been to Cocos, it's not on my list, even though it's hard to imagine better diving.

Wakatobi and a week on Pelagian
Another good one, but I've spent a lot of time in the neighborhood already, so it's a little further down my list.

Australia - both the GBR and Ningaloo Reef
Ningaloo is on my list, but I'd skip the Good Barrier Reef.

I could live (or die, in the spirit of the OP) with your list. Here's mine:

1. Galapagos: I have already canceled two trips to the Galapagos to do the responsible thing with regard to a business and a wife. At this point it's a matter of principle.

2. Ningaloo: I had a dive master on a Komodo liveaboard who hailed from Western Australia and regaled me with tales of fantastic diving in Ningaloo. This is a three-week trip in my mind, in case you have to wait out bad weather.

3. Sardine Run: More big animals, to counter-balance hundreds and hundreds of macro dives.

Awesome lists! I would love to see some specifics on each and every place! My 3 are:

1. Fiji
2. Wakatobi
3. Raja Ampat

Reminds me. I forgot the Cenotes.

I am so sorry to hear this. May you beat the odds and live to dive for way more than 5 years. Doctors have been known to be wrong before. I pray for your complete recovery.

Ok, I'll play too:

Chuuk
Scapa Flow
Cenotes
