What gets me is that none of the personnel listed are Special Opns types. A SAR swimmer a pilot that worked at a ANGLICO unit and a sport diver that really likes to dive.

This is a ripoff from those of us that did serve and go through the real training and serve in those SOF organizations. If it was a bunch of Former SOF running and teaching the training I would say good for them. Too much Airsoft in it for me.

ust my 2 cents.......

I am currently serving in the Army and I am not an SOF Soldier however I have the chance to work w them during my first assigment and I concur w Bhtmec2 unless you have gone thru you have no clue on how it is...I didn't go thru it but I saw many more capable soldiers than me, strong swimmers attend and fail....

It actually looks like it would be a lot of fun and that you would get some excellent training out of it

I agree. It does look like fun. Maybe it's like taking paintball to the next level.

I agree it might be a lot of fun but call it something else...don't call it Special Ops Scuba Master Diver Card because it not! You can't teach what you dont know or have no experience in it. Will you teach an OW course without being a Certified Scuba Diver Instructor? ...

Certified Special Operation Divers can not teach at the Military Diving School...you have to be a Military Certified Scuba Diving Instructor to teach there...

How can you call yourself a Special Operations Scuba Master Diver Card holder if your instrutors have never been through any Special Operations training? is like you calling yourself an OW diver but your Diver instrutor in never been in the water...or getting batting instruction from a Salsa Dance instructor...

Maybe the Special does not mean Military. Perhaps it's small-bus special, or my mother says I'm special.
Relax, it's like underwater hockey. It is not disrespecting professional hockey players, it's just giving people a chance to do something different, fun and maybe educational in our favorite enviroment....the water. I like the idea. :)

Lessee, I already have a Rolex Submariner, a Randall Dive knife, my wet suit is black, my mask has a black skirt, I have a GPS, sonar I take in the kayak, a radio, and a compass. Oh, and a GI 45 auto. I should fit right in.

However, I suppose my yellow Quatros fins will have to go.

Why? This is not me getting upset. If they want to do air soft missions fine. Do not use military videos and photos to try to get people to give you money for your business use your own images. Do not fluff your resume and try to make you look like you are from the SOF community to make money. Be what you are and sell your product. Oh it is not as sexy as I was a CSAR swimmer or Pilot when you are trying to sell SOF subsurface or water borne and land missions.
I agree on the surface it looks like fun. Not every SEAL or SF diver from the (CDQC) can be an instructor. When they are they have to go through a rigorous instructor training program before they teach. Training civilian divers is OK but without having the proper background in teaching this type of POI it can be very dangerous for the clients who think they are getting the BUDS or KEY West experience. Shallow water blackout and many other things happen in the pool and if you are not properly trained to deal with it you can hurt or lose people.

Did you look at the 3 "training missions"? Most of the skills taught are also taught in other venues. Lifeguarding, free diver course. I doubt anyone will kill themselves in that. The "you are going to die" kinds of comments sound pretty familar though...

The whole paintball + scuba factor sounds like fun even if a chunk of the "military/tactical" material is technically inaccurate or just made up. At least locally I imagine homeowners calling the Navy or the Coast Guard when they start storming the beach...

Not something I'd spend alot of money on but whatever floats your boat.

I dunno...you seem a bit worked up to me, but whatever...I've got other things to worry about like whether or not I'm gonna grill shrimp with my fajitas tonight.

Frankly, I'm not one who is concerned about the safety of these folks. If, as you assert, there are clients who think they are getting the "BUDS" experience, then maybe (just maybe) they need a visit from Mr. Darwin. More room on the reef for me.

I'd love to stay and chat but I need to run home and rip the label off my Zeagle "Ranger" BCD. I wouldn't want anyone thinking I was some kinda SOF snake-eater.

PS: Thanks for your service. You, and the countless others who went before you, are the reason we dive free.
