Interesting thread! Every Oct. when we visit the island, it was a ritual to have dinner at La Perilla Mission. .

Parrilla Mission is owned by the same people as La Mission and Casa Mission. We used to like Parrilla when it was on 30, but it did go downhill a lot before they closed it. We used to like the odd hots side bar. Get something and then argue about what the heck it was.

Then we would go to Casa Mission get the Parrilla lunch menu. Much better deal than the Casa leather wrapped menu and it had lunch of the day (Comida del día). I understand Parrilla is now operating separately (dos y tres) in a big palapa on the grounds of Casa Mission. Haven't actually tried to eat in the palapa.

WOw! Different strokes. I have eaten for over 20 years at La Choza and never had a bad meal…but they do charge well for maggies. Try their Puerco en Tomate some time and use the Orange colored salsa with flour tortillas.

Some days will be bad everywhere I guess. I do love La Choza. It is just dependable in my mind. I don't go for a top notch meal, just a good one. Or an orange margarita and the cheese dip.

For me, Costa Bravo, or something along those lines. Down Caya 7, around the corner from Casa Mexicana. Been there twice, totally unimpressed. And like others have said, opposite experiences in some of the other . CV, Del Sur rocks!
As does La Choza, never been disappointed there. La Mission, not so good. Parilla, miss it.

Jeez. I always heard Costa Bravo was good? Maybe for breakfast? I have never been though.

Same here. I always get the Tropical Fish Filet (grouper or dorado in mustard sauce), muy rico! Their table dipping sauces are great and so is the noodle soup. I liked the atmosphere at the old place a little more, but the palapa was a bit of a fire hazard. It's weird, though, that no one ever cleaned the old property up after the final fire. It's still sitting there with the debris from the fire scattered around inside after, what, five years or more?

Went with a friend this winter. She'd never been to Coz and been subject to my raving about it for years, so I was showing her around. One day we rented a car and ended up at Coconuts. Now, I've never eaten there as the menu seems pricey (to me)... I've only had the guac & chips + a drink to enjoy the view. We ordered shrimp tacos & she practically spit out the first bite. To her they were inedible. Me? they were... OK... not terrible. I ate mine anyway :) I asked at the kitchen how they cook it (without complaining) and the shrimp is marinaded... not sure in what. Luckily the guac & chips (& the view) saved the day.

True. Its all a matter of taste. It may have been a combination of our menu choices, personal taste and the price, even after they corrected errors on the bill.

I used to eat breakfast there until some friends reported that when one of them only ate half their bowl of soup after the meal was cleared away, they looked backed and watched the cook pour the remaining soup back in the soup pot.

Parrilla, on 30th Ave?

Ok, yeah - I was disappointed the last time I ate there a few years ago. I thought I might try them again sometime, but I guess not.

That'd be a good one to get on video. I was put off by catching the maid pour half empty bottles of shampoo together - smiling, but that's awful. I wouldn't do that at home.

So much for recycling, eh? YIKES!!
