Hi, everyone.

I'm a warm-water, international destination diving addict. Does anyone have a power strip with variable voltage (100 or 110-240V) that they can recommend? I'm hoping to just bring an adapter for the outlet and the power strip to be able to charge equipment (camera strobe batteries, camera batteries, personal electronics). USB and plug options would be ideal. Having enough space between the outlets so that something doesn't completely monopolize the space of the other outlets would be a bonus.

I found a few on Amazon with a quick search and would love your thoughts/feedback or if you have any suggestions/recommendations, please share. Also, if there is anything that I'm not thinking about that could start a fire and sink a liveaboard, now would be the time to tell me.

Thanks!

Forza Power Strip 6 Outlet Circuit Breaker Protector 3ft Cable 120V, 220V | eBay

110 to 220 (no switch just works). I have used 4 of these for the last 5 years (16+ international trips) with no worries. Cheap enough to have many.
Get a pack of these
https://www.amazon.com/Etekcity-Pow...-1-spons&keywords=1+foot+extension+cord&psc=1
which are very short
or these

which are even shorter and one of these

and you will be good to go.

I am using this little thingy for some years already. Keep in mind, you only need an adapter. You already have the power strip.

Not true if you are from the U.S. Most all 110 V strips from the U.S will fail the black smoke test when you plug them into 220 power.

Correct, you can't just bring any power strip. It needs to have the right voltage. It'll fry otherwise! The ones I currently have at home are 110 only. Thanks, Bill - I didn't even know those extension plug things existed! That's nifty. :)

Power strip is just too bulky and battery charger usually draw very little current, may be up to 1A, so I just bring a couple of such 3-to-1 outlet adapter. I've been in 7-8 liveaboards (in Indonesia, GBR, Galápagos) so far for the past 12 years & haven't blown any outlet fuse, yet (knock on wood).

Obviously you will need the local to US adapter in front of it & make sure that your charger can take 110-220VAC, which mostly do nowadays.

Yeah, just bring triples. You can stack them. Another option is a charger with many outputs.
Make sure you have the right plug for the country.

Hey, I do not use power strips. The original question was about them, hence I mentioned.

Thanks for the great ideas, guys! I didn't even think of the triple outlet option. The only drawback with this is that I might need to also bring extension cords that Bill linked me to since the Eneloop chargers will get in the way of each other on a 3-way. If I wanted more than 3 outlets, I'd also have to bring an extra adapter (more stuff, more bulk), plus the wall plugs to my personal devices (phone, camera battery) versus having the option of charging through USB.

I'm going to explore each of these options in more detail. These are great! Please keep them coming if you have any other suggestions or solutions. Thank you so much!
