Jack, I've seen where you work. I think bombs may be a neighbourhood improvement option worth considering...

:)

Well, you've got a point there. Not one of the very best neighborhoods around!

He’s like a puppy that just got fed on the front porch. He keeps coming back. :D

Rick;
I know where there is still a pile of stuff that goes BOOM. It’s so old and it’s safe where it is…….Hint; East of where you were at the west end of a Federal construction project and 70’ down.

Here is where he was diving. http://terraserver.microsoft.com/image.aspx?t=1&s=10&x=2616&y=26375&z=11&w=1

It was over 20 years ago when a guy came to us to get his boat trailer he dropped off that ramp. We grabbed a local tow company and recovered it for him. A couple of days later he called to inform us we got the wrong trailer.

We went back and got two more. One of them was his. It is a nasty, get deep right now ramp. It has made for some interesting dives over the years.

You never said it was a SS one. You could have brought that one over here for me to handle for you. You can put in a request to get it if it wasn’t involved in a crime.

Gee, thanks...

I'm sure it wasn't involved in a crime. After all, it was wrapped in a towel and tossed into the bottom of the lake.
I will put in a request for it, and if I get it, I'll sell it on Al Queda-Bay.

We dived a spot of San Clemente Island, I think it was, that the Navy uses for target practice. We were told that we could bring spent rounds back, but not complete ones! I know a blond who brought a WWII shell back on board a NC boat, and wasn't caught until they got to shore. The cops were called to come take it, but they didn't want it. Navy didn't want it. Had a difficult time getting rid of it safely.

If it looks like a bomb or large bullet, pretend it is - and leave it.

not found anything that goes BANG yet, i have found a mens 14 karat gold wedding ring, fits me perfect, if i find a girlie dumb enough to want to marry me, least i won't have to fork out for my ring, the other best find was a ferrari watch, probably only been in the water a couple of days, gave it to my dive buddy, as i didn't like it
several pairs of rayband sunnies

Military ordnance can last for years and still function, even after being soaked in sea water for many years. The Navy EOD RSP is to dump it overboard so you may find these things from time to time. If in doubt as to what it is, LEAVE IT ALONE!

I'm sorry, but is that a landmine you are holding, or a coleman stove?

It's a vintage cigarette lighter weathered to an attractive patina. He's going straight to eBay with this bling (although he can prtobably get more for that fresh lid... What is that, SPF 50? )

BTW - I have no idea what that popcorn popper thing is in his left hand.

I see a disturbing trend line here.

Do you have any trouble finding buddies? Is there a special Ordinace Disposal cert required to dive with you?

Tobin

PADI specialty #97 - the OD cert. Very nice.

I once found a small canister like thing while skiing. I found it in a tree well. It looked like two soup cans connected togther at the ends. It had obviously been there for some time, as it was all rusty. I picked it up, (being the stupid kid I was at 17) and put it in my pocket. When I got down to the bottom of the ski run I turned it over to the ski patrol. they got quite excited! So much so that they felt a need to go outside and calm down for a while. They gave me HXXX for picking it up. Something about unexploded avalanche control device. Lesson learned. Other than that the only dangerous thing I ever found while diving was a un-opened beer can, and yes I did drink it afterwards, even though the out side of the can was rusty, and it was oly! Hey..., desperation ya know.

Hey Wildcard, are those bodies in the back ground? No not the John Deere, the other side.
