Want a new Hood that doesn't "choke"

If I put it on right now, out of the water with no other gear on, it fits fine. No strangling.

In that case, try it over the wetsuit see if it keeps you warm enough.
If not, go for a hooded vest over the wetsuit, which is where I ended up.

Maybe get a K-01 hood and trim it to your comfort? Your local GUE shop should carry these.

I don't understand why so many "experts" are for too-tight hoods

"Too-tight" for one person may well be "just right" for another person. If I prefer a tighter hood than you do, that doesn't necessarily mean that one of us is wrong.

I have yet to try on a hood which was decently warm in cold water and didn't give me some jaw fatigue. I can live with that (I prefer my hoods warm), others might well find that unacceptable.

Mine is stretchy and toasty At least down to 47' Fahrenheit. No water flushing at all and really comfortable.

Okay, I tried it on again and the 1/2 " smooth face seal is pretty tight.

Thanks. I'm always looking for warmer hoods. Right now, my favorite is the K-01, second place Waterproof H1 Polar 10 mm (but a distant second).

I'm a wimp when it comes to temperature.

My hood comes in several different sizes, but as is often the case, I fell between because my neck was one size and my head was another. I ordered both to try on and ended up keeping the smaller one, and it's worked out fine, but you might need a bigger size. You might also be able to stretch out the neck a little.
