After years of renting, I recently bought gear, including a used Aqualung Calypso regulator and LPO octo. I bought the Calypso in part because it is reputed to be durable and simple to service, but of course as used gear it now needs service. I see that Scubatoys, a company I've done business with before successfully, and which I know is generally popular, offers regulator service at an unbeatable price, $50 for first stage, second stage, and octo, including parts. Scuba Regulator Repair - Scuba Annual Service I'd be grateful to hear how things worked out from anybody who's used Scubatoys for regulator service. Also, as a general matter, do folks see much advantage to using an LDS for reg service despite the higher price relative to Scubatoys?

If your Aqualung reg is in "warranty" and you want to keep it that way, Aqualung warranty requires you get it serviced at an Authorized Aqualung Dealer. Scuba Toys is not an Aqualung "authorized dealer".

Not that this has anything to do with the level of service provided though...... But just something for anyone to consider.

Hmm. I sent them my Legend for service, and now I notice AquaLung is not one of the manufacturers listed on their reg service ad. I'm not the original owner, so there is no warranty. I'm assuming they will still service it, correct?

Umm. The reg service ad used to have "Aqualung" on there. It's curious that Scubatoys removed it recently.

Why not just contact Scubatoys directly about this?
(If you do, please let us know what the deal is. :D )

I'm glad to see that someone else saw Aqualung on the ad, because I would have sworn it was there when I was getting ready to send it in, and now its not.

I wrote to them and will share the response. They should have my reg by now.

If they can get parts for it (rebuilt kits), I'm sure that they'll service it.

Some shops that are not Aqualung dealers are having a harder time getting rebuilt kits for them.

Got an answer from ScubaToys as to whether they work on AquaLung regs:
No problem we can work on them... we have two service guys and both are certified to work on them.

Got a note today that they've finished my Aqualung regulators and sent them off to me today. They weren't under warranty, but ST did service them. Didn't charge me for return shipping, either. I bought some hose protectors and had to get a new HP hose, but the total was less than the $50 free ship threshold. Nice touch!

I sent my Legend a week ago, but ScubaToys have not received it yet. They were pretty much immediately responsive to my inquiry email.

The weather in the DFW area has disrupted deliveries and they assured me as soon as it arrives, they will service and turn my reg around as quickly as possible.

I'm impressed with their response.

I just used Scubatoys regulator service after the positive reviews found on this site. Unfortunately I was left a little disappointed. Took 42 days from sending gear in to receiving it. (They advertised 14-21 day turnaround time). When I received my regulator back it was without the advertised stats of IP and cracking pressure of 2nd stages.
On a positive side Rick and crew were fast at replying to my emails. Eventually got me the stats and discounted my shipping by $7.40.
I wish I had a LDS to use. 1.5 months is too long to go without my gear.
