Awsome, thanks Gary. I looked at some of the DPV threads on DecoStop, and they were all very discouraging. I was thinking this would be a bit more of a project than my canlight was, but not much. Knowing I can take the motor as is down to rec limits is going to be a huge savings. Thanks agian!

dang! ... might as well strap yourself to an old torpedo

We need pics and info Gary :D
This is my little one. 3+mph on 34# thrust. Will tow two divers and stay with the Dacor style DPV’s. One battery and arround an hour run time.

My big one will hurt you on full power with 72# of thrust. Two batteries and ? run time at full power. I can't hold onto it for more than a minute or two tops.

The props on the little one are under the wing well away from the diver. The shrouds are off the big one when I took the pic.

THAT is awsome, thanks for the pics Gary. What size batteries are you running? The Small gel-cell type like canlights used to run?

I find it kind of funny that the guys on TDS were advocating at least 100lb of thrust. :)

Garden tractor size gel wheelchair batteries from Sears. 33ah and they are not expensive at all.

100# is way too much.

Check out the above links..the archives of "RobotROV" are a great resource. Search the archives and you can get almost any question answered. Also check out http://www.ronsrovlinks.nl/modules/wflinks/. There is a book called "Build Your Own Underwater Robot" that will answer most questions about toy/hobby ROVs. If you need more help, drop me a PM.
Have a great day, mon
