Do you dive off your own boat and make your guests sign a release form?

I think the wording is done so that you cant have a shop/policy thats like Dive charter mandatory fee's 20 for gas 10 for food 10 for X cost ETC... (They would be making a profit obviously, even though its contributing towards fee's)

    WARNING: Don't use ear plugs!

when I perfed my ear, this is exactly what I felt. I should have realized it with the vertigo and all that. (Yes I had the extreme vertigo, extreme pain, and the air sounds). Someone had to come grab me by the shoulders and kinda guide me along. Edit: Didnt mean to revive an old topic. Forgot...

    WARNING: Don't use ear plugs!

Ruptured eardrums are HORRIBLE. Ugh. I perforated mine by trying to force some equalization (was only my second dive), so I know the pain that you felt. I also dove twice on the perforation, just dealing with the pain because I thought it was just a blockage ( it took me 3x as long to equalize...

Lesson learned the hard way, and my first dive experience

Just figured i'd give an update. I've been int he water lately, and its been hurting me. so I finally went to see an ENT(Ear nose and throat) doctor. Turns out I have a ruptured eardrum..and to think I went diving TWICE with a ruptured ear drum. I knew there was a reason it was still hurting...

Lesson learned the hard way, and my first dive experience

Nope, but I saw them. I would say who I was going with, but I would prefer to prevent any negative assocations that might come along with it (Any feelings about the instructors, for instance). They are great people and have been nothing but extremely helpful and kind. :coffee:

Lesson learned the hard way, and my first dive experience

With respect to the safety dive incident, it happened very fast. Wasnt the instructors fault, purely my own.

Lesson learned the hard way, and my first dive experience

Great responses so far, thanks. I forgot to mention that about 6 weeks ago I had an ear infection that I let go for a while. Finally took care of it with some antibiotics but Im not sure it completely healed. (Especially since that was the ear that blew up on me)

Lesson learned the hard way, and my first dive experience

Padi Open Water Course Okay so my very first ocean dive we had a moderate to strong current with 4-5 foot waves. Given I had never even done a giant stride before (with gear on). So I land in the water. And I'm buoyant as heck, and I'm being pushed back by a really strong current back towards...

Is it rare to be able to pop your ears on will/demand?

Ahh your right it does use the same muscles as a yawn. I can do it without moving my jaw at all though.

Is it rare to be able to pop your ears on will/demand?

I guess I am then. Lucky me. I have only experimented above water, Im just assuming it'll work the same underwater.

Is it rare to be able to pop your ears on will/demand?

Im about to start a 2 week PADI open water course. I can VERY easily squeeze some muscle around my jaw (I don't even feel the muscle really), and equalize the pressure in my ears. I can even do it both ways, increasing or decreasing pressure. I'm wondering if this means I wont have to hold my...
