This is Why I Need a Drysuit

Thanks for the feedback on the Bio Seals , those dry gloves look promising and for the price it's definitely worth a try. If they do help with the leakage can you please let us know, I for one will definitely pick up a pair if it helps with leaking wrist seals.

This is Why I Need a Drysuit

I did my course in August last year and bought the tri-lam suit I borrowed from my instructor for a very good price. It took a while to get used to the suit, but I'm never going back to a wetsuit for diving in Cape Town :) My suit also leaks at the wrists and there isn't a dive I don't have...

Thanks for the reply buddhasummer, I'm glad to hear there is a filter so the strand shouldn't cause any major problems as it's really small.

Apeks XTX 200 first stage DIN valve air filter question

I went and did something very stupid the other day, I thought it would be a good idea to take a q-tip and wipe the inside of my Apeks XTX 200 first stage (DIN valve) the part which is covered by the dust cap  Afterwards I looked down the inlet and saw a single strand of cotton hanging...

    Cape Town Non-shark related diving

Cape Town, has cold water (around 13 degrees Celsius in False bay and lower on the Atlantic side) visibility is usually not very good (less than 12m). Interesting things you can see in Cape Town include (but are not limited to) wrecks, reefs, kelp forests, seals and different shark species. I...

    Cape Town Non-shark related diving

Hi Varun There are several dive charters around Cape Town which you can choose from but keep in mind diving in Cape Town depends heavily on the weather, so a booked dive might get cancelled on short notice. Concerning sharks the chances of encountering a great white shark is very slim, very...

    Fatality - Durban South Africa

I live in Cape Town and read about the incident on the scroll bar during the 7pm news. Would be interesting to know why she went missing when you're suppose to stay with your buddy, just hope this wasn't something which could have been avoided.

The beauty of buying an SRP filter

I live in South Africa and ordered the Blurfix3 SO naked adapter and URPro filter from the SRP website on the 14th of January. The package arrived today, so I'd say give them another week and see what happens. They were actually a week earlier than other international orders I've placed in the...

Mare Wave Fin - Full Foot

I use the open heel version of the fin for scuba and they haven't given me any problems. They are easy to put on and to take off, and the foot pockets are very comfortable. While the fins struggle a bit against currents on the surface, underwater they produce lots of thrust with minimal effort...

    Frustrating!!

I'm also busy with my advance open water diver course and my first deep dive was also at a local quarry. The visibility wasn't very good so the drops going from 4-12m and from 12-27m were like deep black pits, freaked me out the first time I went down there. Looking at the wall of the quarry...

Gopro Hero 3 waterproof housing backdoor question

Thanks a lot for the replies Scubafied and Marty, I'm glad to hear the slight gap is part of the design and not a defect in my housing :) After testing the housing I went diving with the camera today and I'm really impressed with the underwater video quality, I'll just have to get a filter as...

Gopro Hero 3 waterproof housing backdoor question

Hi, I took the plunge and got myself a Gopro hero 3 black edition today, so far I'm really impressed with the video quality of this little camera. There is however one thing which worries me, the backdoor doesn't seal as tight on the left side as it does on the right side (looking at the camera...

How often do you use your Gopro?

Thanks everyone for your inputs, I appreciate it. Since everyone is happy with their cameras and still using them on a regular basis I decided to place my order today. I'm looking forward to sharing some dive footage from Cape Town with the community and also to try some creative things like the...

How often do you use your Gopro?

I'm considering getting a Gopro to record my dive excursions, so I'd like to hear from gopro owners if its worth buying one. How often do you take your Gopro along when going diving and would you buy one again if you had to?
