After about a year of pretty rough use, the monopod that was originally recommended by this post broke. I'm now using this version, POV Pole 36" GoPro-Edition, and can say that I like it much better so far. It is very compact when not extended. Also, you can easily switch from POV to pointing...
I've been using Adobe Premiere Pro. It's probably over powered for what I'm doing.
The coz palace is a great place for a scuba / all inclusive combo type of place. The dive shop on site is no frills, but included in the resort credits.
Many thanks for watching and the positive feedback.
The video was shot at 1080p 60fps. Most of the slow motion parts were slowed down to 50 percent speed, so 30fps smooth playback. Also, the final composition was in 1080p 30fps.
A few clips were sped up to 300 to 500 percent speed. There was...
Great footage and edit. The titles were well placed, I also liked the intro where you focused on the sea life while blacking out the rest of the shot. Nice work.
Hey El Pistoffo, thanks for checking it out. Some of the time-lapse is done with the GoPro timelapse setting (0.5 photos / sec) and some is just sped up video. I'm thinking it may be easier just to take mostly video and speed it up in the future. That way there is less changing of settings and...
Just finished up an edit from a Cozumel scuba trip including bull sharks and topside fun. Comments and feedback are appreciated:
Cozumel Scuba & Adventure Vacation ~ Bull Shark Diving ~ GoPro Hero3+ - YouTube
Haha, I did start using Windows movie maker. Those were the days. I'm now using Adobe Premiere Pro and haven't looked back. Great top of the line software for the PC folk.
The GoPro has produced some great snapshots for us. We recently went to see a dive photographers shots of us on a dive taken with a DSLR / flash and were not impressed. We've gotten better photos by using the time lapse feature of the GoPro set at 1 photo / 0.5 seconds. I've set down my point...
I shoot 1080p / 60fps mostly. It's a nice effect to be able to slow down to 50% and keep a smooth 30fps. Yes, the editing takes longer, but its well worth it for the effect imo.
The reason that I prefer Vimeo is that you can embed and share videos that default to HD (with the plus account). Also, there are less issues when using copyrighted music clips. Lastly, the community is a bit more friendly and collaborative. YouTube does tend to get more views though.
That looks like a pretty good deal for the housing and BacPac battery. I think I paid $50 for just the replacement housing once. In that case, It does make sense to get the new 3+ over the 3 even if planning to get the BacPac.
Hi FaithC, the Hero3+ is slightly better in battery life and picture quality. If money isn't a concern (difference between 3 black and 3+black is around $100), I'd go with the 3+.
Other reasons that you may want to consider the original 3 black edition are the BacPac and LCD compatibility. If...
Had a great Bull Shark dive with Jason at Fantasea (PlayaCountryBoy)! Highly recommended. He goes in small groups and always has safety in mind. Here is the edit from the dive:

Just got back from an amazing week in Cozumel. Despite the rain, the diving was great! Here is a GoPro edit from a day trip to PDC for shark dive. Still scouring raw footage from the Cozumel side... so many great reefs and sea life!
Hope everyone has/had a great time!
