Whats the prob w/split fins again?

I'll take issue with the frog kick (not with SAS, she's too cool). I found splits just as fast; the same number of kicks too. I was stunned. This was snorkeling, and I was dropping my knees to keep the fins in the water coming forward. Would like to repeat my experiment on scuba. Some...

    Giant stride entry

What this means is that if you look down you can face plant. And the hand on the back of the head holds the mask strap but also keeps your skull from smacking tank.

    Incapacitated while diving.

My suggestion, spend more time diving than riding scooters. ;)

    Diving without a wetsuit?

I would want something in 75F water. Our pool is generally 80-82. Pool sessions run 2 hours. College students, being funding challenged, are told they can wear sweatsuits and socks for a little added warmth. Those being the cotton variety. They help, but you might want to get out of those...

    Must Dive in Florida Keys?

Good stuff. A reef I have only snorkeled and would love to dive is Looe Key. It's maybe 30 miles from Key West, so a short drive up to a dive shop for the usual 7 mile ride out. I'd take that one over the reefs I've seen in KW. Night dives are on a "well if we get 6 to 8 people we'll go...

    New gear purchase survey 2010

Ready for this? I have purchased a single pair of dive booties. I wanted a cheap pair, shoe height for warm water or pool.

    I have LP95, my 80's are doubled, and I have doubled HP100's.

Making the dive / monitoring your dive

I'm working on a project for a masters degree. I'd like to understand what you do during your dive to keep it safe. For the dives, please consider recreational dives only, but feel free to pull in experience from other areas. Some questions to stir your thoughts might include: What triggers...

    How important is a buddy?

Hard to say it any better than Bob. I'll share an experience I had. I switched over to a new BC and was making some dives and adjusting the thing to try to get it all configured. Beautiful day. Water at that depth was clear and warm (by quarry standards). My buddy and I were just starting...

    What to wear...under there

For me it's the Jammer style. The typical baggy swim trunks seem to ride up, and there's no solution when it all bunches up under the wetsuit. I wear nylon shorts over them on the surface.

    Motorcycle or SCUBA

So I have a 1 in 100 million chance to die if I masturbate or have coffee. Copulation has odds of 1 in 10 million. Yet office work comes in at 1 in 1 million. Sooo, if you're looking for a safer hobby...well, don't take up office work. :D

    Uwatec Smart Com

I have a SmartCOM and generally like it. I'd probably take a wrist mount computer for my next. One thing I've noticed is that the contacts that serve as buttons and be bridged by wet dive gear. So if it's on a moving boat, or is otherwise jostling around, it can get into some weird settings...

    Motorcycle or SCUBA

Hmm, a Harley you say... Well, there were over 5000 motorcycle deaths in the US last year. Over the years 1992 to 2003 there were 947 US & Canadian diver deaths. Insufficient air or entrapment were the most common triggering events. That's from the DAN publication, Alert Diver, July/August...

Hi Topsail and Cat! Find us all the way down at the turn around. I think you'll know when you find us...by the copious amount of chips, dips, and other snacks I mean. :D You might lose your Fricken Chicken privileges. :shocked2: It's in the fine print on your C-card...
