out of curiosity, why looking for the modern one since it is truly quite terrible?
hi I have used them for last 5 years and love them never had an issue and as I dive off coast of Scotland which is a we bit cold they do not freeze

If you love the new Mistral, you will be positively ecstatic with a Kraken from VDH. The Kraken so much superior to the new Mistral.

Which one? The original from the 50-60s or the one from around 2000?
The older ones are common, easy to restore and good diving regs. The remake from 2000 is a POS, it had a lot of design flaws that make it a poor choice if you are wanting a modern double hose reg.
If you are looking for a modern reg with LP and HP ports, then you have 2 choices, restore either a DA Aquamaster or Royal Aqumaster (50s to early 70s) and upgrade it with some components that add HP and LP ports or purchase a Argonaut Kraken. The AK is a modern reg, designed from the ground up by double hose divers for double hose divers. You can learn more at www.vintagedoublehose.com Bryan, the owner of VDH also has a manuf section here on SB.

With that said, you also need to read up on double hose diving, all of them be it modern or vintage require some different techniques to dive properly. There is a fairly large and growing community of DH divers so help and information is easily available for the asking.

Just to be open, I helped with the design, prototype and sea trials of the AK. I have no monitory interest in it but do have a very solid knowledge of it and other DH regs.
Hi, just been browsing the Kraken, what price would we be looking at for regs please

Store - Vintage Double Hose

$575 with no upgrades. If you already have a secondary, computer, etc. you'll be fine with that.

Store - Vintage Double Hose
Extras are here. I have the Armor, hose weights, and the double hose regulator cover. Not entirely sure the cover is needed with the Kraken not being chromed, but got it anyway just in case.

Argonaut Kraken diver Keith off the coast of Scotland. He was one of the first I shipped one overseas to in 2014...If you are diving in water that's too cold for the Kraken then it's too solid to dive.

I don't know if all of this should be discussed in the sales forum but...

I had one of those late mistrals, used it about 15min, put in the box and sold it, truly the worst breather I had ever used (started diving 1971 with a Voit DH) the Argonaut Kraken breathes as well as any single hose I've used, cracking effort is so low that you can breath it just like a mk25/s600 sip air or kick in the Venturi. A truly remarkable regulator.
