Are all crotch straps the same

It lets you scooter without having to have a crotch strap on your actual BCD (or CCR). For rec divers that use a non-BPW BCD but want to drive a scooter, I reckon the Dive-X thing is a reasonable option.

I was actually thinking about getting one, just so that I could put people in it who want to try a BlackTip and/or take a DPV class from me, but who don't have a BP/W.

But, they are $90, versus $25-27 for the CA or Zeagle crotch straps. So, not something I would consider for my own use. Even at $25, I wouldn't use it for myself. I'd rather just have a crotch strap on my rig. Simpler. No plastic buckles. No risk of forgetting my crotch strap when I pack up to go diving.
