Hi everyone! I am a 7 year army vet who after serving in both Iraq and Afghanistan wants to get his open water cert and advance open water cert. The problem is I had one to many things explode close to me and now I live with a constant ringing in my ears. Does anyone else have any experience with this? Any tips or tricks anyone might have? Do you think that I can still proceed with getting certed? I am planning on doing this in Dec, next month.

Good Morning. So, the first thing you will need to do is get signed off from your local ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat) specialist. Vertigo - may be a concern due to the ear issue. One thing I would have you think about - Snorkel or Free diving. Once you have spoken with a physician & perhaps a hearing specialist, you may have a direction.

As far as ringing in the ears, I have that problem too after 21 years in the Marines. I went on and became a instructor and taught for ten years with the ringing.

WHAT DID YOU SAY?

I second the clearance from ENT.
