hmmmm - myth busters has attempted to blow up scuba tanks full of air on a couple of occasions. I believe they were testing the Jaws myth (the tank that blows up in the shark inn Jaws' mouth). What alot of people seem to think would happen - doesn't. Namely, they don't explode - they shoot off in a direction opposite to where ever a hole has been created (kind of like a pop bottle). They did this inside of a shipping container. I believe the hole they created was usually accomplished using a high powered rifle. The air is released so quickly there's only a moment or two of action. It was really less exciting then you might think it would be. But thats assuming your tank is full of air...

Sorry for the let down.

Thanks for the let down :(
Bubbles: Where in TX are you?

Oh, for goodness' sake: whalerkyle posted it here on Scubaboard (with resulting lack of tank explosion) well before mythbusters looked into it....just over in Surface Interval.....an aluminum and a steel tank, too.

Here's the link to whalerkyle's video, from post 426 on that thread.

South Carolina banned them but they sell the larger rockets. It seems people that wouldn't think of firing a larger rocket at someone think that bottle rockets are harmless.

Two of my buddies were shooting bottle rockets at each other during the fourth, one would light one off every once in awhile. One guy fired one and hit the other guy in the lip, luckily it didn't go off or hit him in the eye. He needed two stitches. These guys aren't teenagers with a few beers, they're professionals in their 50's. Multiply that incident by a couple thousand and it's easy to see why the banned them.

Anyone know where I can get some M-80's:D
