sorry, thought you just meant the east coast of the island. ( similar to bonaire’s south side. )I don’t know what the ‘wild side’ is...

Its a Lou Reed song.

I missed the reference. Didn’t realize it was someone different with the follow up pun. It’s actually been a while since I saw the velvet underground live and Venus in furs is one of my top 20.

I never saw a lot of sargassum on Coz west side beaches. I had a hard time staying out of it when I was waiting to be picked up by the boat, though.

Cozumel Island's east side is called the Wild Side. It generally gets more wind and waves, not developed, no electric or water lines, no sewer lines, no cell service. It's also where the sea turtles usually lay their eggs.

Beyond that, clear up the confusion between you two yourselves.

Ok, so no, I haven’t been to that side and I suspect it is more prone to sargassum due to ‘current science’ and stuff....

Last year the sargassum did hit the west side some as the currents took some thru the channel and eddies left some on the east side altho it hit the other side of the channel worse. The east side of the island did get more, causing severe problems for newly hatched baby turtles trying to get to the water before any bird or varmint could attack.

I can’t remember which months are the ‘high’ months for sargassum...but I’m a little more concerned about coming back in July and August until I research more..

Stiiiilllll no sargassum...:) I’m off to bed. Heavy day diving on the cards tomorrow :)
