As it was pointed out, they have a very wide range of prices that are very competitive against the competition at each price point. I deal with lots of brands and models and I find their prices very competitive. They are certainly far better and more reliable than the Suunto computers (and I have about ten Suunto computers).
I know lots of technical and recreational divers that use Ratio computer but certainly hardly any technical divers using the Eon or Suunto computers in general. In fact, I know zero divers using Suunto computers for technical diving (unless as expensive depth gauges not as computers).
I get it, you're a dealer and protective/biased about the product you represent.
I know lots of Tech and Rec divers here using Suunto and Shearwater and none that use Ratio. Means nothing. Move on.
What are these "fun novelty" apps/feature you are talking about?
Pitch Roll, Magmeter, and moon phase. The latter 2 might be of use on limited occasions but they're a must have nor really something that would be a must have
Mix analyser nice Idea, but I'd probably personally prefer my trusty Oxycheck as its a separate unit and don't' need to get out the computer when testing tanks
The GPS is nice for convenience, and I'd probably tick that box. I have a hand held but on a dive boat I can see benefits of having to hand on my PCD rather than getting out my separate Garmin
You are very stuck on your precious Eon and talk about things you have no direct personal experience with at all.
You really do get quite offensive if someone doesn't agree with your POV. Meh!
My lack of experience extends to a shed load of actual dives with the Eon, the Perdix and OSTC Plus so I think I can make a broad assessment of the Ratio, but you'll note I'm always careful to note things that are important to me - which may not be to others
Look there are things I like about the Ratio (on paper as I don't have a physical computer)
I like the 4 button interface - I don't like one or two buttons - others differ
I like the way it deals with multiple transmitters - indeed that's its strong point and sets it aside from the rest in that detail
It alludes (but no detail in the manual or the website) to a replaceable battery. Now if that was something like a AA where you had the choice to recharge in the computer or quickly swap out - that would be a strong point
On the face of it rechargeable Tx seem a positive step. But recharge contacts, whether on a computer or dive/video light require constant maintenance because they corrode in saltwater with the constant but small potential difference between the contacts. Also do I wish to be bothered charging every 10 dive hrs (assuming recharge at 50%) or do I prefer a battery change once/twice a year? Pros and cons each way
Ignoring small price differences between different models of computers by different manufacturers in the same price bracket you come down to detail that are personal to you. You cite poor reliability by Suunto - my experience differs, and when I've had an issue its been resolved quickly in country here with contact to Suunto Finland YMMV
Shearwater - if I was in the US/CAN I'd send it back home, here Shearwater prefer me to go to 3rd party - or if I need to send it home - then I have to deal with the vagaries of International shipping from the ME. The same would be with Ratio or OSTC
And so it goes on. I'll never have the need for Tri mix nor CCR so those features don't apply
While you think I'm all things Eon, I'm not there are parts which I despise and I would much prefer better Tx management, but on balance considering all things important to me I'd still invest in another at this time
Given mine is 4 years old, I'm always on the look out to see where I'd go to next and if I actually got a ratio and liked it enough then my opinion might change. But as always this is my opinion on my need s and my experiences for the type of diving I do. Other people will be different
