It amazes me that some still see abject humiliation as a valid teaching tool.

It's the antithesis of education, which comes from the latin stem, educare, to bring forth, make blossom, etc. (Please forgive my latin if not technically correct, it is fundamentally correct in meaning).

Confidence is the single biggest driver in improvement. If you believe you can do it, you likely can. Equally, if someone constantly tells you you're **** then you'll likely be just that.

Humiliation is for bullies who lack their own confidence and need to find their own self-worth by denigrating others.

Slightly OT, sorry. I don't like bullying much.
