Just curious, why the push for black gear when diving DIR?

Black and the super secret decoder ring...

but dont tell anybody I mentioned the ring.

In truth when the water is a crappy gray low viz with tons of particulate... the black clad diver looks kind of like a whole in the water... and cant be confused with anything else. But maby its just me.

Because it's just ********n cool:14:

I was just thinking about this yesterday! The DIR people on this board seem like the cold-water low viz divers. All my gear is black because I don't like neons but the argument about bright fins being easier to follow and see is a valid one....So I was wondering why techies or DIR would favor black because viz seems like more of an issue for them. Deeper, darker, etc. I like divers to be generic profiles in a seascape and black provides a nice profile and doesn't compete with the natural colors of the reef.
