Sheri... Likewise my condolences as well. Our waters off Catalina have been fairly warm the past few months. Recent temps have been no colder than 57 at depth in my experience. While hypothermia is possible (I don't know your brother's body type or BMI), I often do 3-6 dives in a day without any noticeable problems.

Dr.Bill is known for his tolerance for cold, I think. Many divers do chill more easily, and I have seen divers unbearably chilled in waters 10 degrees warm. Too many variables.
In deed, his medication could have played a role as well, but - much of this is speculation.
 
True, Don. That's why I mentioned it would be hard to judge re: Sheri's brother without knowledge of his body characteristics (and susceptibility to cold).
