I'm so so sorry for you.Mike Veitch:I'm from BC....
yes well, i am sorry that the airline screwed up and dropped you in DC...... enjoy the concrete flatness...chip104:I'm so so sorry for you.
spankey:he recons that smoking does not harm your diving or air consumption if anything it increases it.
H2Andy:i find this to be true. when i was a smoker, i could swim all day on a 40cf
bottle at 100 feet ... but seriously, my SAC was about .45
after i stopped smoking ... oy vey... my sac jumped to over .8
it's back down to about .72 but still... nowhere near as it was before
unfortunately, cigarettes have nasty side effects, or i'd still be smoking
Oh Lynne, are you out there! Please get on line and explain away this malarky. . .H2Andy:well... i have confirmed this with three other divers, one of whom is a world-class
cave diver (all ex-smokers)
we all agree on the horrendous increase on SAC
we've talked about it, and it appears that when you smoke, you inhale less air per
breath taken for a variety of reasons.
once you quit and your lungs have a chance to heal a little bit, they become more
efficient and just go through air much faster
that's about as close as i've had anybody explain it
