First time calling a dive - even before suiting up

You can deal with low viz, and a fair bit of current -- but I think one of the easiest ways to get hurt or frightened diving is by attempting an entry or exit that is too rough or beyond your experience or capacity. I'd MUCH rather call a dive on shore (and have done so a number of times, sometimes to my companions' chagrin) than do the washing machine experience of getting rolled in the surf, or bashed into rocks. You did the right thing.
 
You don't feel it you don't feel it. I've called it at 2000 the night before. Just new I was going to be tired and not wanting to get out of bed at 0600... I want diving to be fun, not a chore...
