I have been considering purchasing a GoPro Hero 5 or 6 and a watertight case (of course) for some recreational diving. Curious how folks have found these fairly inexpensive cameras for recording dives?

For someone looking for excellent video quality with some good photo quality as well, would this be a good entry-level ticket? Fortunately, I do have some high-end computing power. Is there a video editing software or editor recommended by divers? By lighting, would you be referring to some strobes that could attach to a housing, or how does that work with the small scale of the Gopro in relation to full-sized cameras?Apparently the 6 specifically has some really high end video capability. Folks that shoot underwater video to advertise locally are raving about it.
Caveats:
1. You need computer power to process high quality video.
2. You need a good lighting system.
3. The thing behind the camera that presses the buttons is the most critical piece.

I'd suggest fooling around with the 6 for stills. You might find it meets your needs.I appreciate all of the feedback on this. I am going to go ahead and pull the trigger on the 6 for video purposes. Can anyone recommend a good stills camera to go on a tray with the Gopro? Would be very interested to be able to snag amazing stills as well at a decent price.
