Well, I haven't been out since the front passed through but this evening's news cast stated gulf temp had dropped to 60. Brrrrrrrrrrrrr...............................

Great idea for a thread! Either starting a new one or simply adding to this one - if we get lots of action and updates this is a good topic for a sticky, for sure!

It has had quite a bit of action, read back. It kind of stopped while we were waiting.

Brian, I can't wait for that trip :yeahbaby: I'm running out of fish for my freezer anywhahoozle.

Berrrrrrrr!!!! too cold for me in the Gulf. It was 72* a month ago when me and my son dove out of Clearwater. But it is much colder now!

I just checked the web site Weather Underground

Coastal Water Temperatures

Place:Temperature:Clearwater Beach, FL55 °F / 13.3 °C St. Petersburg, FL62 °F / 16.7 °C Fort Myers, FL57 °F / 13.9 °C Naples, FL64 °F / 17.8 °C

No offense but those temps don't help much except for shore diving.
If you go here: NDBC - Florida and Eastern Gulf of Mexico Recent Marine Data and look at the offshore buoys like: NDBC - Station 42036 you'll see surface temps appear to be about 65 to 70 on the offshore buoys. Of course I want to know the bottom temps, not the surface temps (as EAN pointed out in post #1) and we need dive reports for that :)

If everyone is in agreement when you post a report try to include the dive site, temperature on the bottom, the depths the temperatures were taken, the vis and any currents present.
If you want to do surface, mid level and bottom that's fine too.

As deepstops noted your best bet other than someone who is actually out there is the NDBC website. Not all buoys give water temps and those that do are in the 3 meter deep range so keep that in mind.

I started a new temperature thread per a request. Any thoughts or ideas are welcome on this thread but let's keep the new one limited to the specific information only.
