Hi, Can any one of you recommend a good brand for a hand held sonar. My freind bought his in Japan and he said that it's cheap, though he can't remember the brand. I know that Scuba pro has one but does is there other brands that could be cheaper and also dependable?

RJE is the primary military supplier and sells a very high qualty product...

They are now offering some items outside of military specifications (non-magnetic) that drops the price down a great deal...

Thanks Jeff for the info. I just emailed them asking for a quotation on the personal dive sonar. You're a great help.

Isn't there a handheld locator (might have used sonar) which could be used to locate direction and distance to boat, to buoyed location, or to dive buddy. I think there were about 2-3 companies which did this but one of them stoped making them. Any idea on where I can find info on them?

Return a different tone depending on the density of the object.

Some of the EOD guys I worked with could tell slight differences but anyone can tell the difference between the sound of metal and the sound of flesh.
