For scrawny folks like me who wear weight belts with some lead toward the front, soft weights are wondermous. Instead of hard lead abrading my prominent hipbones, I am cushioned. I even carry them when travelling, sacrificing unnecessary things like clothes to stay within airline weight limits.

A potential drawback not yet mentioned: - Some people say they are not good for the environment because they leach more lead than hard weights (larger surface area).
