Once you get in the water, all that harness padding just becomes a liability. It's buoyant and you don't need it. It's not like you're going to do a 20 mile march or something where you need padding for comfort. All it has to do is get you 100 yards or so to the beach or in the case of a boat dive, the 3' or so from the gunnel to the water. Once you're in the water, your rig doesn't have much weight to it and unpadded straps are plenty comfortable. Don't worry about padding the plate either.

What's more, if you buy a 1 piece strap and you decide you don't like it, you're not out much money.

I agree that there is no need for all the padding and extra buoyancy.

I bought the Halcyon Infinity rig and removed the integrated weight pockets, back padding and shoulder padding. Alternatively you can buy the standard rig and add the cinch system.

I have a DSS with the standard rigging and the 26lb Torus wing and have never regretted it. Quality, service before the sale, service after the sale, it's all there: www.deepseasupply.com

BTW, nice avatar. :eyebrow:
