I had the yucatan style chicken at casa Denis wrapped in banana leaf with a pretty good tasting sauce. The after dinner drink was something called Xabetun (small shot glass). Food was good, but things I did not like was that the Margaritas were not that good, weak, watery. Plus I was moved around from table to table as it got more crowded. Service was slow until I was moved in the back corner, (I was solo), with a local who suggested the yucatan chicken.
On the other hand at La Choza was treated extremely well, had the fish special, food was quite good.
Did you have it On the Rocks or frozen? I've had the waiter tell me to get it on the rocks as it is better and stronger. I've never had a weak maragarita there. They practically throw additional tequila on top of the margarita once they bring it to you. Either that or free shots.

Yes, a couple of years ago although at my age, time plays tricks. They are around the corner on 10th Ave.
Actually, I think it was more like four years ago. Maybe more.

Time doesn't care whether you are having fun or not and there's nothing at all funny about how it slips away. :p

It was so busy when I was there, I was not offered the choice of frozen or on the rocks. It was on the rocks. Not a bad Margarita, but I've had better at many other places.

Well, maybe they fail on consistency? I had two after a night dive last trip and they seriously snuck up on me. Course the closing complimentary tequila shot didn't help....

For those of you who are eating at Casa Denis, what are you ordering? For us, our meals always seem just okay--certainly we've had way worse on the square, and so far nothing much better, and it's generally pleasant and lively, except that I'm not that fond of the strolling entertainment that gravitates to that corner, but are there some standouts on the menu, in your opinions? Maybe I should be sticking with the sopa de lima?? Otherwise, I'm generally inclined to walk a few blocks back. It is very cool that Casa Denis has been there as long as it has. And I agree that Casino cooks a pretty good fish, if you're eating near the square.

The best fajitas I have ever had came from Casa Denis...the service was excellent too!

So I have to ask. Every time we have one of these threads, I am the only one to mention Costa Brava. Are my wife and i the only ones who like this place or does no one else know that it exists?

I walk past it every day I dive. I know it exists. I have even eaten there a couple of times.
