DAN sells it through a third party, but you have to be a Dan member to apply. It's a yearly policy however. Cost depends on the value of what you insure.

You can get general trip insurance to cover all of your belongings on a trip. I almost always do on International trips, as the airlines are only liable for $9.07 per pound.

Jafo123,

I'm aware you didn't ask about diving insurance, but while talking about policies you shouldn't be diving - especially on vacation - without it. There are at least 2 other companies besides DAN offering it, think Rodales just did a comparison of insurers. But unless you want to compare and contrast, its tough to beat DAN.

All three offer equipment riders for extra cost. They're pretty reasonable, although the policies are not 'all-risk'. IOW, (don't have the article in front of me, but...) you have to suffer the loss while diving for DAN to cover it. The extra rider covers a broader range of losses, such as airport losses.

For starters:

DAN with their third party H2 inslurance is great, but it does not cover flooding or losing gear while it is being handed down to you -say by the DM on a boat for example-. Try the following link for DEPP (Divers Equipment Protection Program) it is a yearly insurance but it covers everything.

There is a third company offering insurance similar to the one offered by DAN, but I can't recall their name now. I will PM you with it tomorrow.

Good luck.
