I'm not sure, but it sounds like a cross between a tourist and a moron.

Exactly. Tourons are everywhere but seem to me concentrated in places where folks from somewhere else want to come visit. In Maine the tourons show up Memorial Day Weekend and stay until the leaves change. In Idaho they showed up the week of Christmas and stayed until the snow melted. Here they show up the week after Thanksgiving and leave in May.

I had to laugh at Scooter this morning. What he doesn't understand is that those of us that show up and stay, especially us Yankees, are known by another name one that the censoring software won't let me use....

Sure it will. Come visit, spend your money, go home - you're a yankee. Come and stay - you're a damned yankee.

I've driven all over this country - from coast to coast; several times. Drivers don't suck everywhere like they do here.

People don't know what the following terms in driving mean:

1) Yield. A Florida Yield means, "Pause 2,3, go" regardless if there is oncoming traffic. Then the true Florida driver would go from the far right lane to the far left lane (with no signal) and not look.
2) Right on Red - does not mean that you have the "right of way" to go "right on red" especially if there's a left turn arrow from the other direction.
3) 4-Way Stop. A florida 4 way stop means that the person who is on the most major roadway has the right of way - over the person who is on the minor roadway or side-street. So - the more major road can have 3-4 cars go through for every 1 that is on the minor road.
4) My favorite The U-Turn on Red. I've seen it several times, and even had one person tell me, "you can do that when you're on a divided highway" :shakehead:

Of course... There are more rules like "optional turn-signals" for either changing lanes or turning. Speed limits are just suggestions, and Red Lights aren't real until they've been solid red for at least 2-3 seconds.

Now - In other places in the country... If you drive like this... you get a ticket.

Slower traffic keep right is fantasy land in S Florida. The loss in productivity for those who conduct commerce is staggering IMO.

Ya mean the 95 in I-95 is not the speed limit???:shocked2::shocked2:

...

Myself, I couldn't live anywhere but, unless it was somewhere even lower in Latitude.
I lived in Key West and on Cudjo Key, my son was born in Key West, but we are much, much, happier at the southern end of the Big Island of Hawaii. But like the Keys, this place is not (NOT!) for everyone.
