btw, Shangri la Mactan is definitely one of the best beach resorts in SEAsia (IMO). Too bad they're so dang expensive!
Have you heard of this resort, http://www.badianhotel.com/e/index.html, its in Badian island. I thought Shangri-la was expensive :) I stayed in Shangri-la with my wife and kids, I was fortunate enough to get an employee discount :D But it was still expensive.

hey that's sweet! Is that close to Moalboal or is it on the east coast cebu? This is also another one: http://www.alegrebeachresort.com/ Someday... :)

That's awesome you're getting a employee discount! Well worth it. Last time I went to Cebu (when you reco'd Buboy) Shangri La screwed up my uncle's reservations, so we ended up in the Hilton. They felt bad and gave us free use of their amenities for the duration we were there plus they'd pick us up to drive us over! Pretty good deal cause the facilities of the Hilton are still not developed (and the beach sucks compared to Shangri La!).

OT - why can't I stop laughing when I see ur sig...and we're still in January!
naku, thanks for the words of support, koya....

I was debating on making it smaller, but I knew Veitchy would flip out at that... just a month to go...

edit: let's just not talk about it till this ordeal rolls by, ok? :)

Alegre Beach is another expensive resort, their published rates are insane.

That's great customer service on Shangri-la's part for fixing the snafu. I have to agree about their beach - so much better.

subzero great info... yes we'll be using Scotty's shop location but my instructors are based in Hong Kong and run their tech training from there and PG.

I heard they normally have a pick up service if you're diving with Scotty's but not staying in Shangri-la. Go check it out. They may even arrange the local hotel booking for you.

Don't go for really cheap hotels and end up staying in very remote places. Lapu-Lapu City, Mactan has the highest crime rate in the province. This is not meant to scare you off, just giving you statistical facts as a friendly advise from a Cebuano.

Enjoy your stay and have a safe diving.

I just got back from Cebu and spend a lot of time there every year. Between Shangrila and Hilton is the new Scubaworld resort. It is a bit rustic but it works. They do not have a kitchen yet but theres food all over. Problem is they are a dive resort only and probably would not rent out the rooms if youre not diving there.

About 10 mins away is the Hotel Cesario. This is where I stayed for 3 weeks during my IDC. Nice enough place. Beside it is a bit more expensive. The Bellavista I think. Same owner. Same dining area even.

I can get phone numbers if you want.

Scubaworld used to be Paradive. P1,500/night good for 4 adults.

Now that's a real rip off as they will take you on the boat to dive sites where the rest of us go to from the beach. Just follow this links to get a full list off accomodation in the Moalboal area.

http://www.moalboal.org.uk/

or follow the links on my page below for Blue Abyss Dive shop and Marcosa cottages. Just say Colin sent you.

It's only thirty minutes over the bridge to the city and tons of pension houses and hotels. Last time I stayed at Days it was getting very run down
