I would suggest considering a day trip out of Padang Bai. Two dives, Manta Point and usually Crystal Bay for the second. You might see mola mola as well if you're lucky. I went with Gekko Dive but any PD dive shop should be able to organise it, 5-6 hour round trip IIRC. The viz isn't great but the manta swim round & round coral bommies so you get multiple views and can get quite close

Hi
Another vote for diving out of Padang Bai: most of the dive operators in the village leave daily to Manta Point/Crystal Bay and we're only 50 mins to 1 hour from Ubud.

Mantas are seen most days, if we can get to Manta Point as sometimes the conditions in the channel are too rough for the crossing, but this doesn't happen often.

I've never dived Manta Point and NOT seen Manta :D There again, I've never heard of Manta being seen at Tulamben either!

I agree with absoluteamanda . Manta point is the place for Mantas. Its unlikely that u dont see a Manta overthere. All the other places its pleassent surprise u see one....

So Mantas are all year round but manta pt can be dived only if conditions suit. I once stayed in lembongan for a week in sept but couldnt get to manta pt at all because it was rough :( so the main question is the weather I suppose.
