some of my sucky shots. I'm using a Reefmaster mini camera with no strobe, any help will be very grateful too...

Roy, you're not going to do much better than that in CA water with no strobe. Not enough light. Auto settings I presume? Check your EXIF on your computer if possible. I would guess that on the two blurry shots, your shutter speed's about 1/40. The kelp sunburst is terrific. The surface light makes the shot work just right. I'd love to have taken that picture! If you're shooting auto, you might try your dive light for focus and subject lighting. I'd try to keep it at a sharp angle to the camera if you can.

alcina:
Just a couple of snaps from the other day. We have 100s of white cockies all over town and they are nasty things - they're loud, they adore tossing garbage out of cans, they're loud, they aren't particularly fond of letting one close, they're loud...

Driving along the beach we found a bush full of them:

And some "townies" enjoying the leftover water...one maybe just too much

Oh, they're so cute :) :14: :14:

Semi - recent stuff, just can't keep track these days......

Nice, Jam :)

Been trying to take the camera out when I walk the dog, but she's a little too helpful so it's rather trying  But yesterday was just too glorious and there was all sorts of cool stuff out. Here's a sea star burying itself in the sand:
