I like #1 because it looks like little hands reaching out to grasp something, but I like the transparency of the bulbs in #4 too.

how do you get them to stay still for a picture? they vanish as soon as you get close...

Au contraire mon ami .
Just approach them very very slowly, hover perfectly, extend your arms very slowly and take a couple shots.

After taking loads and loads of christmas tree worm shots, i've got a lot better at not making any sudden movements or motions, it really is a great feeling hovering over it, taking a few shots from different angles, reviewing, inhaling a bit and then moving on with the CTW being none the wiser .

It's easier for me using a 100mm, Jam. I can stay farther away than let's say a 60mm.

I think I need to try that 100mm lens topside, I can't believe that you can get that close with it!
